ORTHOPTICS

Orthoptics is from the Greek words ortho ( = straight ) and optikas ( = vision ).

Orthoptics is a science complementary to Ophthalmology
 It deals with the diagnosis and treatment to defective eye coordination, binocular vision and functional vision by non-pharmaceutical and non-surgical methods. However, the additional options could include optical, medical and/or surgical treatments. The goal of Orthoptics is to improve comfort and efficiency of binocular function.

ORTHOPTISTS

Orthoptists work in close cooperation with Ophthalmologists, Paediatricians and Neurologists. Orthoptists are an asset for Ophthalmologists as they are really helpful during consultations : they also undertake complementary tests such as visual fields, OCT, electroretinograms, ultrasounds, refractions, coordimeters.
